Most years, October is a slightly slower month in the polymer trade. Festive holidays thin out production schedules, a few converters run fewer shifts, and buyers usually wait for a correction before booking fresh quantity.
October 2026 has not followed that pattern. Domestic producers opened the month with price increases, followed up with more revisions in the second and third week, and market prices in Delhi and Mumbai moved up along with them.
At Granil PolyTrade, we get the same question from almost every buyer this month: "Should I book now or wait?" There is no single answer for every business, but understanding what has actually changed makes that decision much easier. This update puts the main movements in one place.
---What Producers Changed in October
Indian Oil's published revision effective 1 October set the tone. According to the circular, PP went up by ₹1,000/MT, HDPE pipe and HDPE injection grades rose by ₹2,000/MT, most LLDPE grades rose by ₹1,500/MT and LLDPE injection by ₹2,000/MT. HDPE yarn, blow moulding and film grades were rolled over.
| Date (w.e.f.) | Revision Reported |
|---|---|
| 1 Oct 2026 | IOC: PP +₹1,000/MT, HD-Pipe and HD-IM +₹2,000/MT, LLDPE +₹1,500/MT (LL-IM +₹2,000/MT). Another producer's PP list also moved up ₹1,000/MT across sectors, with PVC rolled over. |
| 8 Oct 2026 | IOC: HD-Pipe +₹2,000/MT, other PE and PP grades rolled over. |
| 10 Oct 2026 | LDPE extrusion coating and injection grades +₹3,000/MT on a producer PE list, other sectors rolled over. |
| 15 Oct 2026 | IOC: HD-Pipe +₹2,000/MT again, PP and other PE grades rolled over. |
| 17 Oct 2026 | LDPE extrusion coating and injection grades +₹3,000/MT again on the PE list. |
The pattern is clear. HDPE pipe grade has gone up three weeks in a row, and LDPE for coating and injection has gone up twice. Pipe makers and laminators are feeling this more than most.
---Where Market Prices Are Sitting
Producer lists are only half the story. What a converter actually pays in the market depends on dealer stock, local demand and how quickly material is moving.
Market tracker BigMint reported broad-based increases in domestic prices on 19 October. In Mumbai, HDPE blow moulding was around ₹136.50/kg, LLDPE film around ₹140/kg, LDPE film around ₹164.50/kg, PP injection around ₹153/kg and PVC around ₹102/kg. In Delhi, LLDPE film was around ₹142.50/kg, PP injection around ₹158/kg and PVC around ₹102/kg.
A week earlier, on 12 October, PP film in Delhi was reported at about ₹163.50/kg and HDPE blow moulding in Delhi at about ₹139/kg.
Note: these are indicative market levels reported by trackers. Actual prices depend on grade, brand, quantity, payment terms and location. Always ask for a firm quote before planning production costs.
Why Prices Are Still Firm
The bigger reason sits outside India. Supply from the Middle East has been disrupted for most of 2026, and that region is an important source of PE and PP for Indian importers. When imported material becomes uncertain, domestic producers have more room to raise prices.
There are also a few global supply signals worth watching. LyondellBasell shut a PP unit in Italy, which tightens European supply a little further. Meanwhile, import offers at CFR Mundra for PP injection stayed around $1,385/t and PVC around $870/t on 19 October, even as domestic prices climbed.
That gap between flat import offers and rising domestic prices is important. If it widens too much, imports start looking attractive again, which usually caps how far domestic producers can push.
---What This Means for Different Buyers
Pipe manufacturers
Three back-to-back HD-Pipe increases are a real cost hit. If you have tender commitments or fixed-rate orders, review them now. Pipe-grade HDPE is not something you want to buy in a panic at the end of the month.
Flexible packaging and lamination units
LDPE coating grades have moved the most. If your customer contracts don't have a raw material clause, this is a good time to start that conversation.
Injection moulders
PP has moved, but more slowly. Monthly bookings in smaller lots still make sense unless you see a sharp jump in your local market.
PVC processors
PVC lists were largely rolled over at the start of the month, but market prices have still moved up a little. Keep an eye on the November list.
---Our Practical Advice for November Planning
- Don't book your full quarter at once. Split purchases into two or three lots so you average your cost.
- Compare producer list price with market price. When the gap is large, ask your supplier why.
- Keep one alternate grade approved. If your regular grade gets tight, an approved equivalent saves you from a production stop.
- Look at reprocessed material for non-critical products. For utility items, a well-chosen reprocessed polymer can protect margins.

---Frequently Asked Questions
Will polymer prices come down in November 2026?
Nobody can promise that. Prices may soften if import offers stay flat and domestic demand slows after the festive season, but supply risks from the Middle East are still present. Buying in smaller lots is safer than waiting for one big dip.
Why do market prices differ from producer price lists?
Producer lists are base prices. Market prices include dealer margins, freight, local supply and demand, and payment terms, so they can be higher or lower depending on the week.
Which polymer saw the biggest increase in October 2026?
Among the published revisions, LDPE coating and injection grades (₹3,000/MT twice) and HDPE pipe grade (₹2,000/MT three times) saw the largest cumulative increases.
Conclusion
October 2026 has been a month of steady upward revisions rather than a festive-season pause. For most buyers, the right approach is not to guess the bottom but to buy in planned lots, keep alternate grades ready and stay in close touch with a supplier who tracks the market every week.
